Aunt Heidi's Rolls

These Rolls are so yummy, growing up we had them with every thanksgiving dinner that I can remember (and it was a good thing because my whole thanksgiving dinner was rolls and chocolate fluff… oh the sad sad life of a picky eater!!)

Aunt Heidi's Rolls

¼ C. Softened butter

¼ C. Sugar

1 TBS salt

3 C. hot water

2 eggs

8 C. bread flour

2 TBS rapid rise yeast

6 more TBS butter for the pan

With the rapid rise yeast you don't need to let it proof, you can just add it with the dry ingredients. Mix all of the ingredients together, cover and let it rise for one hour. Punch down the dough, separate it into 24 balls, then smooth out each ball. Melt butter on a baking sheet. Dip the top in butter and put it seam side down on a 9x13 baking sheet 4 across and 6 down. Let it rise for 20 more minutes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cook for about 10 minutes, until they start to get golden. I always tear open the roll in the middle to make sure they are done… and I get to eat one piping hot straight from the oven, YUM!!

Corn Bread

This turned out really good! I usually just use the Jiffy corn muffin mix and add some sugar to it but since I didn't have any I thought I'd try it from scratch!

I got this recipe from here but I switched the amount of the flour and cornmeal so it would be less cake like and more corn bread-like.

Corn Bread

2/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 2/3 cups milk
1/2 cup flour
2 cups corn meal
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar. In a separate bowl combine the eggs and milk. And in yet another bowl combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt. Alternating add some of the dry mixture to the butter then the wet mixture, little at a time until it is all mixed in. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 22-27 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm with butter!

Garlic Bread

So... you know that garlic bread that you can get at walmart for like 1.50 that is smothered in butter on both sides??? I have a confession to make... I LOVE that garlic bread! All of that crispy buttery goodness!! Well I decided to try to make it from scratch!! I was very happy with the results!! I was so proud that it looked just like it and my hubby even said it tasted better... so sweet! :)
I used this french bread recipe.

Garlic Bread
french bread
BUTTER :)
Italian seasoning
garlic salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice bread however thick you like. Butter both sides. Sprinkle both sides with garlic salt and Italian seasoning. Bake for 5 minutes on each side or until crispy and golden brown on each side. (I also put a little butter all around the crust just for good measure!! :) )

Banana Bread

I have never liked bananas, but when it comes to banana bread I could eat a whole loaf!! It is so good! Growing up my mom would always wash out cans and use them to bake banana bread in, usually so we could give it to our teachers around Christmas time or end of the year, it made the perfect little loaf! This stuff is SO good!!

Banana Bread

1 Cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 Cup butter
3 TBS sour cream or milk
2 Cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
3 large bananas
nuts if desired (definitely NOT desired here!)

Cream the butter and sugar, add the beaten eggs and sour cream. Add all of the dry ingredients except for the flour.
In a separate bowl mash the bananas, I used my pastry blender. In another bowl put the flour. Alternately add some bananas into the first mixture then some flour... then bananas, then flour. (I added a 1/4 of each then mixed... and so on)
Add vanilla and mix well. Spray your loaf pan with cooking spray and bake at 350 degrees, mine only took about 40 minutes but depending on your oven it could take up to an hour, when you push on it and it springs back up it is done.

Zucchini Bread

This is my Aunt Heidi's Recipe and it is SO SO good!!
Zucchini Bread
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups finely grated zucchini (it took me 1 1/2 medium sized zucchinis)
3 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
I grated the zucchini with the really small and fine cheese grater. Just mix all of the ingredients together really well. Divide equally into 2 loaf pans. Cook at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. I like to eat mine warm with butter!!

Cinnamon Rolls

These were AMAZING!!!!!!! Seriously the best cinnamon roll I've ever had! (I somehow didn't get a picture with the frosting on)

I got this recipe from sisterscafe

Cinnamon Rolls

2 Cups milk

2 cubes (1 Cup) butter

2 TBS yeast

1/3 Cup warm water

1 1/3 Cup Sugar

1 tsp salt

4 beaten eggs

8 Cups flour

1 cube softened butter

Lots of cinnamon

Sugar

Heat milk and 2 cubes of butter until the butter is melted. Cool and set aside. Mix the yeast and water, let stand for 5 minutes. Add cooled milk mixture, sugar, salt and eggs. Add 4 cups of flour and mix then gradually add the rest of the flour until it is the right consistency (Firm but not sticky). Cover and put in a warm place and rise for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, it should be nearly double in size. Separate dough into 2 equal pieces and dump out onto a floured surface and knead a little. Roll out into a rectangle that is 1/2 inch thick. Spread on 1/2 cube butter onto this half of the dough, completely covering it. Sprinkle a layer of sugar. Then put a generous layer of cinnamon.

Oh yeah, I added a little bit of brown sugar too.

Roll up tightly into a long roll, pinch the edges and cut with a piece of thread. Place on a cookie sheet (cover with parchment paper if you have it). Do the same thing with the other half of dough. Cover with a clean dish towel and put into a warm place without drafts.

Raise for 2-5 hours, until doubled in size, I let mine rise for 3 1/2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, just until they are barely browned. Remove from oven and let them sit for 5 minutes. Drizzle with glaze while still warm. Makes 3-4 dozen.

Butter Cream Glaze

1 cube (1/2 cup) softened butter
1 tsp vanilla
dash of salt
dash of cream of tarter
1 1/2 lbs powdered sugar
scalded milk or cream

Add all together adding milk a little at a time, alternately with the powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached. It needs to be a little thinner than regular icing.

YUM YUM YUM!!!! I highly recommend making these! (but it makes a ton so make them for lots of people or give some away :))

Baguettes

I found this recipe on http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/French-Baguettes/Detail.aspx

This one was great!! Nice and springy inside and a crisp outside!! It was really only good right after I made it though, the next day not so much. I don't think I rolled them up tight enough because they started to come undone a little, but they were still very good!

French Baguette

1 c water
2 1/2 c bread flour
1 TBS sugar
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp rapid rise or bread machine yeast
1 egg yolk
1 TBS water

The original directions are for a bread machine but it worked out just using my kitchen aid. Put the water and yeast in your mixing bowl, add sugar and salt, then the flour. Put dough into a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place, covered, for 30 minutes or until doubled in size. Punch down the dough and on a floured surface roll out into a 12x16 rectangle. Cut dough in half making two 8x12 rectangles. Roll each piece tightly beginning at the 12 inch side and pound out any air bubbles as you go. Roll back and forth to taper the ends. Place 3 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Make deep diagonal slashes along each loaf every 2 inches. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes. Preheat oven to 375. Mix egg yolk with water and brush over the tops of the loaves. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Navajo Tacos (Fried Bread)

This is my "Birthday Meal"! Growing up my mom always let us choose what was for dinner on our birthdays and I always chose fried bread!

Fried Bread

2 cups flour
1/4 TBS salt
3/4 TBS baking powder
1/8 cup shortening
water
Mix the flour salt and baking powder, then add the shortening. Add water until it is a smooth dough (I guess I'll have to actually pay attention to how much I put next time!!) Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead the dough for 2 minutes then shape into balls (make 7-8) then cover and let rise for about 30 minutes (not gonna lie I only let them rest for 10-15 minutes... but I'm impatient! :P) Meanwhile get a 3 qt saute pan (I think that is what it is called :) it is like a skillet but has tall sides) and put enough canola oil in it to deep fry the dough.
Roll out each ball into a really thin disc, I should have taken pictures because it is hard to remember how thick or what diameter they are rolled out to without seeing it... oops! They are pretty thin and then once you deep fry them they puff up and you don't want to leave it to thick or it will be too dense. Deep fry until it is golden brown on one side then flip and cook until golden on the other side. I use tongs to flip and get out and set it onto a baking sheet that is covered with paper towels or a brown paper bag to soak up the excess oil.

Serve with Chili Meat, Refried Beans, Shredded Cheddar cheese, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, hot sauce, and whatever else your little heart desires!!!

Chili Meat

I used leftover roast meat that we had in the freezer or you can get beef chunks and shred them up

Chili Powder to taste

Cayenne Pepper if you like it spicy

Onion powder just a dash or two

salt to taste!!

Monkey Bread

I found this recipe here http://buttercreambarbie.blogspot.com/2010/01/cinnamon-walnut-monkey-bread.html and decided to try it because it is different than my normal monkey bread recipe. It was delicious but I like the old recipe better, the only thing is I usually use Pillsbury biscuits instead of making the dough so what I'll do in the future is use this dough recipe but for the rest use my recipe ( I'll eventually get that recipe on here!!). Oh and for this recipe there is supposed to be walnuts and icing but I didn't do either, though I'm sure it would've been even better with the icing!

Monkey Bread

Dough:
1 1/3 cups warm water
4 1/2 tsp instant yeast
3 TBS sugar
2 tsp salt
5 TBS butter, melted1
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1-2 cups bread flour

Filling:
3/4 cup melted butter
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup light brown sugar

Icing:
2 cups confectioners sugar
2-3 TBS milk
1 tsp vanilla

Dissolve the yest in warm water with 1 TBS sugar for 2-3 minutes. Add in butter, sugar, salt, and all purpose flour. Mix until it forms a soft mass and the bread flour as needed to form a soft dough. Let rise covered in a warm place for 30-45 minutes.

Make the coating by putting melted butter in a bowl and in a separate bowl mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Deflate the dough and divide into 1/2 inch pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and dip into the butter then into the cinnamon mixture. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the cinnamon sugar mixture into the bottom of the bundt pan. Layer the dough balls in the pan, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Let it cool for 15 minutes them invert onto a large plate. Make the Icing and drizzle over the top.

Pita Bread

These turned out really good, I don't ever really eat pitas but I thought I would try it!

Pita Bread

3 cups flour, plus 1/2-3/4 cup more
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 TBS sugar or honey
1 packet instant yeast
1 1/4 - 1 1/2 cups water, room temperature
2 TBS olive oil, vegetable oil, butter, or shortening

Mix the yeast with the flour, salt, and sugar. Add the olive oil and water, stir with a wooden spoon. All of the ingredients should form a ball. If some of the flour will not stick to the ball, add a little more water. Knead on work surface for about 10 minutes or if you are using an electric mixer mix on low speed for 10 minutes. Add flour until the dough clears the sides of the bowl, tacky but not sticky. Place in a bowl that is lightly coated in oil and flip (so that the dough is also coated with oil) Cover with a damp towel and let it rise until doubled, about 90 minutes. Punch down and divide into 8 equal parts. Roll each piece into a ball, cover and let rise for 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450 and put a baking stone or upside down baking sheet into the preheating oven. Spread a light coat of flour on surface and a little on top of your ball of dough and roll out to 1/4-1/8 inch thick, 6 inches diameter. Let the discs rise until barley doubled, 30-45 minutes. bake for 3-5 minutes, until they puff up, flip and cook for another 2 minutes or so.

Crescent Rolls

These are the Crescent Rolls I made for the chicken salad sandwiches. I got this recipe from my friend Holly.

So the first batch I made... FAIL. Somehow I forgot milk ... which means I didn't soften the yeast at all and it turned out looking like sugar cookies and tasted not so hot. BUT I tried again and actually followed the recipe and... mmmm so good!!

Here is the first batch I made, not pretty!
Crescent Rolls
(I just copied and pasted so these are her words cuz she is the expert... you can see how mine turned out haha)

1/2 cup butter + more to melt on top of rolls at end
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 package (1 Tablespoon/ 1/4 oz) active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 teas. salt
3 1/2 to 4 1/2 c. flour
This looks much better! :)

1. In a large bowl cream 1/2 cup butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Dissolve yeast in warm milk *I warm it up in the microwave*; add to creamed mixture. Add salt and 1 cup flour; beat until blended. Stir in remaining flour to form a soft dough.

* I use 4 cups or less but I know it changes depending on where you are. Just try to use as little flour as possible so your dough is softer. I usually add about 3 cups and then have another cup to the side and work it in when I'm kneading the dough so that I use less. It should be soft but not sticky.

2. knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes (I never time it). Place in a greased bowl, turn over once to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until doubled.

3. Punch dough down. Turn on lightly floured surface (sometimes I don't use any flour or I use cooking spray to avoid using more flour). Divide in half. Roll each portion into a 12-inch circle; cut each circle into 12 wedges. ** for your bigger crescent rolls only cut it into like 8. its easiest to cut it into quarters and then cut each quarter into two or three depending on what size you want.**
roll up the triangles you cut and place down on greased baking sheets 2 in. apart. Curve end down to form crescents. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes, until doubled.

4. Bake at 400 degrees for 9-11 minutes or until lightly browned. ** watch closely , you don't want to burn it after all that work, and I've come close** remove from pans to wire racks. brush melted butter over warm rolls.

yield - 24 or if your doing the bigger ones, 16 (** I made bigger ones for the chicken salad sandwiches)

Store in air tight container, or freeze in airtight container to keep them fresh if you have a lot. I like to warm it up in the microwave with honey and butter.

Sopapillas

I am an assistant to the activity day girls for church and we had a "fiesta" on Tuesday night. I made sopapillas for dessert... honestly I don't know if they eat these in Mexico, but growing up they were "Mexican food" to me.

I had these at my Great Uncle Glenn's when we went for 4th of July and my mom got the recipe from them, thankfully!!

Sopapillas

2 cups hot mashed potatoes (instant or real, either way should work... I used instant)
1 TBS salt
2 cups milk
2 TBS sugar
4 TBS butter, melted
1 TBS yeast
2 eggs, well beaten
6 cups flour
Oil for deep frying

Mix the milk, salt, sugar, and melted butter. Add potatoes (really hot) then let the mixture sit until warm. Add the beaten eggs. Let the yeast dissolve in a little bit of luke warm water, then add it to the potato mixture. The dough will be really sticky. Stir in the flour and knead lightly, just enough to mix in the flour. Let it rise to twice it's size, knead lightly again, rise it to twice it's size a second time. Roll out to about 1" thickness. Cut into the size you desire. Dough needs to be sticky so just use enough flour so you can handle it (I like to use cooking spray on my hands instead of flour) Deep fry until golden. I drizzled some honey and butter on half of them and the other half I sprinkled cinnamon sugar over them.

Grandma's French Bread

Not my grandma's french bread... but someones :) I got this recipe from:

This bread was really yummy... but what bread isn't right!? :)

French Bread
2 1/4 cups warm water
2 TBS sugar
1 TBS yeast
1 TBS salt
2 TBS oil
5 1/2-6 cups flour, stirred before measured

Dissolve the sugar and the yeast in the warm water. Let it proof (until it is foamy) Add salt, oil, and 3 cups of flour. Mix. Add the rest of the flour and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Knead if for a few minutes. Let the dough sit in the mixer for 10 minutes then turn the mixer on to stir the dough down, for about 10 seconds, then let it sit for another 10 minutes and repeat 5 times. Turn onto a floured surface and divide it into 2 equal parts. Roll each into a 9x13 rectangle. Starting from the long edge roll the dough up. Place them onto a baking sheet that is lightly sprinkled with corn meal seam side down (my seams obviously didn't stay down) cut 3-4 gashes at an angle on top of each loaf with a sharp knife. Let them rise for 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash (1 egg with 1 TBS water... I forgot this step.. oops)

Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

Garlic Knots

I got this recipe from:
(Mine don't look nearly as pretty as hers!!)
Garlic Knots
1 1/2 cups warm water (110 degrees)
1 TBS active dry yeast
2 TBS white sugar
2 TBS vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
4 cups bread flour
4-6 cloves garlic finley minced or pressed trough garlic press...
4 TBS butter, melted
Mix the butter and garlic together and let it sit while you make the rolls.
Stir together the water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand until it is foamy (about 10 minutes) Add oil, salt, and 2 cups flour. Stir in remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time until the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the bowl. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic (about 8 minutes) Lightly oil a large bowl , place dough in and turn once to coat. Cover with a damp cloth, let rise in warm place until doubled (about 1 hour)
Deflate dough, turn onto lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 12-14 equal pieces, form knots by rolling each piece into a 4-6 inch rope, tuck the loose end through the middle of the knot. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet at least 2 inches apart, cover with a damp cloth or greased saran wrap. Let them rise until doubled (about 40 minutes) Cook at 400 degrees. Bake for 12-13 minutes, until golden brown. Immediately brush the garlic butter over the rolls when they come out of the oven.

Deep Dish Pizza

I got this recipe from:
http://annies-eats.com/2010/01/21/chicago-style-deep-dish-pizza/

Deep Dish Pizza

1 1/2 cups + 2 TBS All purpose flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal (I used white because that is what I had)
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 1/8 tsp instant yeast
1/2 cup + 2 TBS room temperature water
1 1/2 TBS unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp olive oil
2 TBS unsalted butter, softened

For toppings I used
Sauce - recipe here
Mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese
Pepperoni
Bacon bits

Mix all dry ingredients, add water and melted butter. Mix on low until fully incorporated, 1-2 minutes. Knead until glossy and smooth (on medium/low speed for 4-5 minutes) Coat a medium bowl with the olive oil. Let it rise in the bowl tightly covered with plastic wrap for 45-60 minutes.

To laminate the dough, turn the dough out onto a dry workspace, toll into 8 by 6 inch rectangle. Using an offset spatula (I just used a butter knife) spread the softened butter over the surface leaving 1/2 inch around the edges. starting with the sort end toll into a tight cylinder. With the seam side down, flatten the cylinder into a 9x2 inch rectangle. Gold into thirds, like a business letter, pinch the seams to form a ball, and return to oiled bowl. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise in the fridge until nearly doubled 40-50 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Coat a round 9 inch cake pan with 2 TBS olive oil.
Transfer the dough ball to dry counter and roll into a 13 inch disk about 1/4 inch thick. Transfer dough into pan, lightly press into the pan, working it into the corners and one inch up the sides. Put the toppings on and bake until the crust is golden brown, about 20 minutes, let cool for 10 minutes before cutting.

Biscuits and Gravy (with Bacon!)

yes, that is my BACON SANDWICH in the corner YUM!

I LOVE bacon... I could literally eat a whole pound by myself... disgusting I know but I can't help it, it is just so yummy! ANYWAYS.... I made some bacon then used the grease to make gravy.

Biscuits

2 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk

Put the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a bowl and mix together. Cut the shortening in with a pastry blender. Pour in the milk and mix with a fork or your hands... it is pretty messy with your hands but that is just how I do it for some reason. you can roll out the dough and use a cookie cutter to make into circles but I just shape them with my hands... don't have to be perfect :) Then bake at 450 degrees for about 10 mins, until they are golden brown on the bottom.

Gravy

4 TBS shorting (I used the bacon grease instead)
4 TBS flour
Milk
salt
pepper

Melt the shortening in a hot skillet. Add the flour until it is thickened, but still a little runny. Add the salt and pepper and cook until it is a little browned. Add the milk gradually, this will have to be quick though so it doesn't clump up, stir it constantly with a whisk while adding milk, until it is thick (a gravy consistency) I added bits of bacon into it too

Bread Sticks

My mom has been making these for as long as I can remember and they are SSOOOO good!!!!

Bread Sticks

1 1/2 cup warm water
1 TBS yeast
2 TBS sugar
1 tsp salt
4 cups flour

6 TBS butter on the pan
Garlic salt
Parmesan cheese

Mix the water, yeast, sugar, and salt and let them foam. Get a large baking sheet with 6 TBS butter cut up on it and put it into the preheating oven so the butter will melt (watch it, don't let the butter burn!)
butter on the pan
Add the flour to the yeast mixture, mix and knead it until it is smooth and not sticky. Let it rise for 10-15 minutes. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is... I've never measured but I'd say like 10x 15 or so, so the dough is still like an inch thick. Get a pizza cutter and cut the dough in half lengthwise and then cut into strips.
Take each strip and coat each side with the butter on the pan, and twist it up.

Then sprinkle it with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. Cook at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes (check the bottom it should be a golden brown)

Cheddar garlic biscuits

My mom makes these and they are sooo yummy!!!

Cheddar Garlic Biscuits

2 cups flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1/3 cup vegetable shortening

3/4 cup milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup melted butter

1/2 tsp garlic salt (estimated)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Put 1/4 cup butter on a baking sheet with some garlic powder and melt it in the preheating oven... it will melt quickly so don't forget it!!

Mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture with a pastry blender. Add milk and mix with your hands... caution can get quite messy... handle it as least as possible! Mix the cheese in and just make your biscuits as big as you want them on the baking sheet, roll in the butter on sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they start to get golden brown.

Melt rest of butter with garlic salt and brush onto the biscuits when they come out of the oven.

Homemade BAGELS!!!

http://bakingbites.com/2007/06/homemade-bagels/#more-783

So my favorite thing in the whole world is bread!!! pretty much any kind of bread, and that includes bagels!! I was so excited to find this recipe and I had to try it out right away!

so here they are... not the prettiest things but I didn't feel like making them perfect :)

*There are more pics on how to shape them if you click on the link above!*

Bagels

1 TBS yeast

1 TBS sugar

1 3/4 cups water (100-110 F)

4 cups bread flour (NOT all purpose)

1 TBS salt (I thought it was a little much, next time I'll try 3/4 TBS and see if it is too bland... I'll let you know!)

1 egg, for egg wash

In a large bowl or mixer combine yeast, water and sugar, let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in the flour and salt. Mix dough thoroughly until it comes together in a large ball, pulling away from the sides of the bowl. Add an additional TBS of water or flour if you need to. Knead dough for about 10 minutes until it is elastic and smooth. (If you knead in your mixer- low speed for abt 8 mins, I always like to hand knead it) Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil (and preheat your oven now)

Turn dough out on a slightly floured surface and divide into 12 equal pieces (I did mine bigger so I only made 8) Shape into a ball and let the dough rise for 30 minutes covered with a clean dish towel.

Then poke a hole through the middle with your finger. Make the hole bigger than you want your end result, because the hole will shrink as it cooks. Let the rings of dough sit for 10 more minutes.

Drop the bagels into the boiling water and let them boil for 2 minutes on one side then flip and boil them for one minute on the other side. transfer them onto a clean towel to drain for a minute. Then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet (I didn't have parchment paper so the bottoms of my bagels were a little crunchy but they were still good!) Brush the boiled bagels with the lightly beaten egg.

Cook at 400 degrees for 20-24 mins (until golden brown)

Slice and toast to served!

Homemade Pizza with Homemade sauce

I didn't take any pics :( darn, it was so pretty!

Pizza With Homemade Sauce

Quick and Easy Pizza dough found here:
http://mykitchencafe.blogspot.com/2008/01/ode-to-pizza.html

3 cups flour
1 heaping TBS honey
1 heaping TBS oil
1 cup warm water
1 TBS yeast
1/2 tsp garlic salt

Mix all ingredients except the flour. Add the flour and knead for a few minutes. spread it out on a pizza pan. (I made one deep dish and put 2 TBS olive oil in the bottom of a deep dishpizza pan)

For toppings I used
Homemade sauce
Pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese
6 cheese Italian mix
Ham
Olives
Put your favorite toppings on!

Homemade Pizza sauce (also found at link above)
1 14.5oz can diced tomatoes
1 small can tomato paste
1 TBS sugar
Oregano
Garlic Powder
Italian Seasoning
Crushed red pepper (optional, we like it spicy so i put quite a bit and I think I'll add a little more next time it was a little too tomato-y for me still)

Combine all ingredients in blender until desired consistency, I don't like any chunks of tomato so I Pureed it :P

Bake at 475 degrees for about 10-12 minutes. Makes one large Pizza
